STARS allows international students to report cumulative GPA and class rank exactly as they appear on their official secondary school transcript.
GPA Entry Guidelines
- Enter both Weighted and Unweighted Cumulative GPA if available.
- Use the same grading scale (5-point, 15-point, 100-point scale) shown on your transcript.
- If a GPA is not listed on your transcript, check the appropriate box:
- My school does not report cumulative unweighted GPA
- My school does not report cumulative weighted GPA
- You must either enter a GPA or check the appropriate field indicating that your school does not report cumulative unweighted or weighted GPA.
If You Select Numeric Rank
- Enter both Weighted and Unweighted Rank if available.
- If your school does not report weighted rank, check the box:
“My school does not report weighted rank.” - If your school does not report unweighted rank, check the box:
“My school does not report unweighted rank.”
Additional Class Rank Entry Options
STARS supports the following class rank formats. Select the one that matches your transcript:
- Numeric: e.g., 25 out of 500
- Percentile: e.g., 96th percentile
- Decile: e.g., Top 10%
- Quartile: e.g., Top 25%
- Quintile: e.g., Top 20%
- Home Educated: For homeschool students with no rank
- No Rank: If your school does not report rank or you do not know it
Helpful Tip
Tip: Enter GPA and rank exactly as shown on your transcript. Do not round, average, or convert.
