How to Create Your STARS Account
Follow these steps to create your Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS) account.
Create Your Account
- Go to the STARS account creation page.
- Select Create STARS Account.
- Enter the required information:
- First and last name: Enter your name exactly as it appears on your college application.
- Email address: Use the same email address you used for your college applications. The email must be unique to you and cannot have been used to create another STARS account.
- Student type: Choose First-Year or Transfer applicant.
- High school graduation year: Select the year you graduated or expect to graduate.

Password: Create a password that:
- Is 8–20 characters long.
- Includes letters and numbers.
- Contains at least one of these symbols: ! @ # ? $ % * =
- Select Continue.
- Enter your birth date in MM/DD/YYYY format.
- You may also enter the following optional information:
- Country of residence.
- Street address.
- City.
- ZIP or postal code.
- State.
- Select Complete to finish creating your account.
Alert: Enter your name and birth date exactly as they appear on your college application. Differences may prevent your STARS record from matching your application.
Note: Your email address must be unique to you and cannot have been used to create another STARS account.
Tip: Use a personal email address that you check regularly and save your password in a secure location.
Note: If you previously created an SRAR, SSAR, or STARS account, do not create another account. Try signing in with your existing account information.
