When completing your STARS Record, select the Grade Scale that matches the format used on your official transcript or grade report.
Grade Scale Options
- Letter Grades: For transcripts with grades like A+, A, A−, A*, A1, A2.
- Number Grades: For whole numbers from 0 to 100.
- Decimal Grades: For grades with decimals (e.g., 89.5).
- Letters and Numbers: For transcripts that use a combination of letters and numbers.
- Narrative / Descriptive: For descriptive terms like Excellent, Satisfactory, Poor.
This option also supports numeric grades with atypical maximum values (e.g., maximum of 600).
Alerts
Alert: If you receive decimal grades but can’t enter them, make sure you selected Decimal Grades (not Number Grades) on the Enter High Schools screen.
Alert: Always enter grades exactly as they appear on your transcript. Do not round, convert, or estimate.
Alert: If your school uses a numeric grading system that doesn’t match any of the listed options, select “Something Not Listed Here” from the Grade Scale dropdown when recording a course grade.
For example: If your school uses both a 100-point and 150-point scale, enter the grade (e.g., 110) and the maximum possible grade (e.g., 150).
