If you changed high schools or returned to a previous one, follow this process to ensure that all academic years appear correctly on the Enter Coursework screen in STARS.
STARS and Dates of Attendance
STARS uses the Dates of Attendance entered on the Enter High Schools page to generate academic year sections (e.g., 09/2023 to 06/2024) for coursework entry.
Special Situations
This process applies if any of the following are true:
- You switched high schools and later returned to a previous one
- You transferred mid-year or mid-semester
Step 1: Temporarily Enter Full Dates for Each School
- Use your original high school start date (e.g., 09/2022) for each school you attended.
- Enter your expected or actual graduation date as the end date (e.g., 06/2026) — even if you didn’t attend that school for the full duration.
Alert: This step ensures that all academic years are visible in the Enter Coursework section.
Step 2: Enter Your Courses
- Record courses under the correct academic year, based on when and where you took them.
Step 3: Fix the Dates of Attendance
- Return to the Enter High Schools page.
- Update each school with the actual Dates of Attendance.
- Click the Enter Courses icon after each update to save changes.
Helpful Tip
Tip: This method allows you to accurately record your coursework history — even if you changed schools — while ensuring your Dates of Attendance are correct before submission.
