If you are asked to complete a STARS Record as a transfer applicant, you may use the link provided by the requesting university in your applicant portal. You also can create a STARS Record on the main STARS website.
Getting Started
- Create your STARS Record account if it has not already been created for you.
- Once logged in, confirm that your record is set to Undergraduate Transfer Applicant.
- If you previously completed a STARS Record as an Undergraduate Freshman / First Year Applicant, select Undergraduate Transfer Applicant for your Applicant Type on the Home screen.
Entering Your College Information
- On the Enter Colleges screen, confirm your High School Graduation Year.
- Do not enter a college graduation year in this field.
- List each U.S.-based college or university that you have attended.
- Record the dates of attendance and enter the GPA as shown on the college transcript.
Entering College Coursework
- Select an academic year on the Enter Coursework screen.
- Choose a Subject Area (e.g., English, Mathematics).
- Enter the Course Code / ID (do not include spaces or dashes).
- Enter the Course Name as shown on your transcript.
- Record the Credits Earned. If the course was not completed successfully, enter "0."
- Select the Course Grade. If the courses is in progress, choose "IP (In Progress)."
- Select the Term (e.g., Fall, Spring).
- Click Save Course.
- Repeat these steps for each course.
If you attended multiple colleges or universities, be sure to list each one and enter all relevant coursework as described above.
After completing your STARS Record, submit it and confirm that it is linked to the requesting college or university.
