Many universities that collect exam scores in STARS have a test-optional policy. You can choose whether to share your scores, and you can also decide which scores to share.
How to Select Your Test Score Preference
If you are logged into a university’s branded STARS Site
- Go to the Enter Exams / Enter Test Scores screen.
- Choose one of the following:
- Yes – make my test scores available
- No – do not make my test scores available to (University Name)
- If you choose Yes, select the test or exam types you want to share.
How to Tell If You're on a University-Branded STARS Site:If you're using a university-branded STARS site, you'll see that college or university’s logo at the top of the page instead of the STARS logo. These pages may include college-specific instructions, deadlines, or requirements, so be sure to review them carefully.
If you are logged into the main STARS website
- After you add the university on your dashboard, select Show Details For (University Name).
- If shown, click Test Optional Preferences for (University Name). If this option isn't shown contact the university to learn how to provide your scores.
- Select Update Test Optional Preferences for (University Name).
- Choose Yes or No.
- If you choose Yes, select the tests you want to share.
- Click Save Test Optional Preferences.
Additional Notes for University-Branded STARS Sites
- If the Enter Exams tab is visible but the test-optional section does not appear, record your scores for the exams listed.
- If the Enter Exams tab is not shown, contact the university to learn how to provide your scores.
Example: If you are completing a STARS Record for the University of Delaware, the test-optional section will appear on the Enter Exams screen for their branded STARS Record.
Alert: If you see the "Required Exams Missing" error, return to the Enter Exams screen and confirm you have selected Yes or No for the test-optional question. You must answer this before submitting your STARS Record.
Note: If you do not see the test you want to send, contact the university’s Office of Admissions for instructions on how to provide your scores.
