If you completed a core academic course during middle school (grades 6–8) and received high school credit, include it in your STARS coursework entry.
What to Include
Only include courses that:
- Appear on your high school transcript
- Count toward your high school graduation requirements
Examples include:
- Algebra 1
- Geometry
- Spanish 1
- Biology
How to Enter These Courses
- Go to the Enter Coursework screen in STARS.
- Scroll to the section labeled “Enter high school courses taken in Middle School.”
- If you attended more than one high school, enter these courses under the high school you attended in 9th grade.
4. Enter each course for which you received high school credit. You do not need to select an academic year.
5. Complete all required fields:

- Subject Area
- Generic Course Title
- Course Name
- Course Level
- Course Length
- Grade
What Not to Include
- Do not include courses from middle school unless they were taken for high school credit.
- Do not enter any course that does not appear on your high school transcript.
- You do not need to add your middle school to the Enter High Schools/Colleges page.
