This article explains how to enter your high school courses and grades by Year in STARS.
Before You Begin
- Use your unofficial transcript or online grade report.
- Do not estimate, average, or round grades.
- Do not complete this section from memory.
How to Enter Coursework by Year
- Go to the Enter Coursework screen.
- If you attended more than one high school, select the correct School.
- Under Selected School, choose Year from the “I prefer to enter my coursework by” field.
- Scroll to the Enter or Edit Coursework section.
- Click the green pencil icon next to an academic year to begin.
Confirm the Grade Level for Each Academic Year
Each academic year shown on the Enter Coursework screen reflects a specific grade level based on your school attendance dates.
For example:
- 2023–2024 may represent your 10th grade year.
- 2025–2026 may represent your 12th grade (senior year).
Tip: If an academic year is missing, check your attendance dates on the Enter High School page.
Make sure the courses you enter for each academic year were actually taken during that time. If the year does not match your expected grade level, return to the Enter High School page and adjust your attendance dates.
Enter Annual Academic GPA (If Applicable)
- Enter the annual GPA for that academic year (e.g., 2023–2024).
- Do not enter your cumulative GPA.
- If you didn’t receive an annual GPA, check the box labeled “I have not received an annual GPA for this academic year.”
