An independent study is a course completed under the supervision of a faculty member, teacher, or advisor, often tailored to the student's interests or goals.
If you received high school credit for the course, you should report it in STARS like any other course.
How to Enter an Independent Study Course
- Go to the Enter Coursework screen.
- Select the appropriate Subject Area and Generic Course Title from the dropdowns.
- If no suitable options exist, select Other for both fields.
- In the Course Name field, enter the name of the course exactly as it appears on your transcript.
- Under Course Level, choose the appropriate level if listed. If not, select Standard.
- Complete the Course Length and Grade fields as you would for any course.
