If your high school uses a trimester system, use the guidance below to choose the correct Course Length and enter grades accordingly.
What Is a Trimester System?
A trimester system divides the school year into three sessions: fall, winter, and spring.
How to Enter Trimester Courses
If your transcript shows final grades for each trimester only:
- Select Trimester as the Course Length.
- Enter the final grade for each trimester listed.
If the course was one trimester long:
- Select Trimester.
- Enter the final grade for the trimester in which the course was completed.
- Leave the other trimester fields blank.
If the course was two trimesters long:
- Select Trimester.
- Enter the grades in the two completed trimesters.
- Leave the remaining trimester field blank.
If the course was two trimesters and each trimester equals a semester:
- Select Semester.
- Record the two trimester grades as two separate semesters.
If your transcript shows trimester grades and a final full-year grade:
- Select Full Year.
- Enter only the final full-year grade.
- You do not need to enter trimester grades.
Helpful Tip
Tip: Always follow how your transcript lists grades when choosing the Course Length. Do not guess or average term values.
