If your school uses a block schedule (e.g., 4x4, A/B, or alternating days), follow the guidance below to correctly enter courses in STARS.
What Is Block Scheduling?
Block scheduling structures longer class periods that may meet fewer times per week. For example:
- Courses may meet daily for one semester and complete a full year of material.
- A 4x4 schedule typically includes four classes per semester that rotate mid-year.
How to Enter Block Scheduled Courses
If the course is one semester long but equals a full-year course:
- Select Full Year for the Course Length.
- Enter the final grade as listed on your transcript.
If the course is one semester long and counts as a half-year course:
- Select Semester as the Course Length.
- Enter the grade in the appropriate semester field (Fall or Spring).
- Leave the other semester field blank.
Helpful Tip
Tip: If you're unsure whether your block course should be listed as Full Year or Semester, check how it appears on your transcript or ask your counselor.
