Not sure what the status of your STARS Record is? Here's how to check whether it's submitted, sent to a college, received, or still in edit mode—and how to make sure it gets delivered.
Submitted
Once submitted, your STARS Record will show "Record Complete" in the top right of the screen.
You’ll also see the word "Submitted" under Current STARS Status on your dashboard.
Alert: Submitting your STARS Record does not automatically send it to colleges. Your record must be both submitted and linked to each college listed in your My Colleges and Universities dashboard. After submitting and linking, keep your record submitted for at least 24 hours to allow time for it to be sent. If you place it in Edit Mode, be sure to resubmit and keep it submitted.
Sent
To check if your STARS record was sent:
- Go to the My Colleges and Universities dashboard.
- Find the college and click "Show Details for..."
If your record was sent, you'll see a ✅ green checkmark and the sent date.
Received
To confirm if your STARS Record was received by a college:
- Log in to that college's admissions portal.
- Look for a confirmation or checklist item showing the record was received.
Edit Mode (Unsubmitted)
- If your record is in Edit Mode, you'll see "EDIT MODE" in red at the top right.
- You’ll also see tabs like "Enter High School," "Enter Coursework," and other editable sections—this is another way to tell your record is unsubmitted.
Alert: This means your record is unsubmitted and colleges won’t receive it. Be sure to re-submit and keep it submitted to ensure delivery.
Tip: Use the My Colleges and Universities dashboard to track your status.
