International applicants should complete the STARS Record by listing the last four years of secondary school, with courses and grades that match U.S. High School grade levels 9 through 12.
Choosing the U.S. Grade Level Equivalents
Use the chart below to complete the "Courses / Exams were taken in" field based on your school system:
If you completed a 4-year secondary school program:
- 1st year → Equivalent to U.S. 9th Grade
- 2nd year → Equivalent to U.S. 10th Grade
- 3rd year → Equivalent to U.S. 11th Grade
- 4th year → Equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade
If you completed a 3-year secondary school program:
- 1st year → Equivalent to U.S. 10th Grade
- 2nd year → Equivalent to U.S. 11th Grade
- 3rd year → Equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade
If 9th grade was completed in middle or junior high school:
- Add the middle/junior high school to your record.
- Select Equivalent to U.S. 9th Grade for that year.
- Then continue with:
- 2nd year → Equivalent to U.S. 10th Grade
- 3rd year → Equivalent to U.S. 11th Grade
- 4th year → Equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade
